Mississauga, ON – Fluke Corporation, supplier of portable electronic test and measurement and thermal imaging technology, says electrical professionals should check their test leads — the wires that connect test tools to powerful electrical circuits — before connecting to the circuit itself.
Test leads are more than a means to connect a digital multimeter (DMM) to the unit under test; they form an integral part of the complete measurement system. Poorly made, worn, or under-rated test leads can cause inaccurate readings and may pose a serious shock or electrocution hazard if the user touches live wires that the meter has read as being de-energized. Information on why test leads are so important and how to check them for safety is now available in the Fluke application note, “Testing your test leads for electrical measurement safety,” available free on the Fluke web site. Fluke produces a broad range of tools that professionals use to test electrical systems and circuits, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, process controls and other electrical and mechanical equipment. Fluke products include test leads and a wide variety of other accessories.
