Economical magnetic drive pump PDF Print E-mail
Written by REM
Rising safety standards, the need to reduce running costs and general considerations on quality assurance are increasing the use of plastic-lined, magnetic drive centrifugal pumps. Viking Pump Canada introduces the Richter RMA series ASME/ANSI lined pumps for highly corrosive, solid-laden and high-purity fluids in the fine chemicals and petrochemical industries, pharmaceutical and food industries, pulp and metal processing sectors, and for waste disposal/recycling.

RMA pumps are rated for an operating pressure of up to 275 psi (19 bar) and for a temperature range of -29°C to +150°C. Eight sizes are available with flow rates to 750 USGPM (170 m³/h) and delivery heads of up to 150 m (490 ft.) at a speed of 3,500 rpm. Close-coupled and logn coupled versions available. RMA pumps comply with the ASME/ANSI standards B73.3 and Cl.150.

The one-piece thick-walled ductile iron pump housing is seamlessly lined with the fluoroplastic PFA  to a thickness of 3.5 to 6 mm and the pipe forces are absorbed by the metallic shell. The pressure-bearing can is made of carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP). On the wetted side a PFA lining protects against corrosion. This unit is free of metal and therefore eddy currents and thus no heat enters the fluid being pumped. The freedom from eddy currents represents energy savings compared with pumps with metallic cans. The SAFEGLIDE PLUS plain bearing reliably prevents damage from dry running - in practical tests up to 30 min. and longer. The pump readily conveys media with a solids content of up to 20 percent.

Thanks to its service-friendly design, the good hydraulics and the overall good value for money, the RMA is one of the most economical magnetic drive pumps on the market.
