Komatsu America Corp. says its D475A-5SD Super Dozer was developed to provide productivity, reliability and operator comfort for the mining and quarry industries. The Super Dozer pushes more material without a proportionate increase in operating weight and horsepower thanks to its exclusive proprietary blade design, says the company. The Tier 2 D475A-5-SD has an operating weight of 249,560 pounds and features a powerful, clean Komatsu SAA12V140E-3 turbocharged, air-to-air, after-cooled diesel engine that provides a maximum net output of
890 HP (664kW, says the company. For greater efficiency during long pushes, the lockup mode allows the system to automatically engage the torque converter lockup clutch. Locking up the torque converter transmits all the engine power directly to the transmission and increases ground speed, says the company.
