Remote controller for liquid hydrocarbons PDF Print E-mail

Emerson Process Management has released the ROC800L liquid hydrocarbon remote controller to measure and control a wide range of liquid hydrocarbons including crude oil, refined products, specialty products, lubricating oils and light hydrocarbons. The ROC800L is ideal for applications from oil well testing and net oil computations to custody transfer and leak detection.

Leveraging the proven ROC800-Series Remote Operations Controller architecture with its ease of use and quick installation, Emerson created the new remote controller to simplify liquid measurement. The ROC800L's straightforward, fill-in-the blanks approach to configuration covers a variety of applications, and the remote controller is quickly configured using ROCLINK(TM) 800 software.

The device can also be programmed to perform many PLC functions using FST (Function Sequence Tables) or Emerson's DS800 programming tool. The DS800 uses any of the familiar languages defined by IEC Standard 61131-3, including ladder logic, structured text, function block diagrams, instruction list, or sequential function chart language. This flexibility makes customization to meet unique control requirements even easier.

"The ROC800L adds a rugged liquid hydrocarbon measurement remote controller to our Remote Automation Solutions portfolio of products," said Randy Page, vice president, global sales for Emerson's Remote Automation Solutions. "We have installed more than 200 preproduction units with multiple customers to allow them to test and evaluate different requirements. One customer reported saving 45 percent in installation costs."

For maximum productivity and reduced maintenance costs, the ROC800L can be connected to Emerson's DeltaV digital automation system to enable remote device diagnostics using Emerson's AMS Suite predictive maintenance software,
