Suncor Energy has released an announcement that said the output from its oil sands operations in northern Alberta fell 19 percent in June as it worked to complete planned maintenance on its largest upgrader.
Suncor said production from its oil sands holdings averaged 247,000 barrels per day last month, down from 306,000 bpd in the same month last year.
Suncor said scheduled work on its largest upgrader, which began on 17 May, wrapped up over the weekend, Reuters reported.
The company had estimated the shutdown would cut production by about 85,000 bpd.
Suncor said its year-to-date output has averaged 249,000 bpd, down from 289,000 bpd over the same span last year. It is still targeting average production of 280,000 bpd for 2010. www.suncor.com
