Vale workers returning to job after Sudbury-area miner death PDF Print E-mail
Written by The Canadian Press
SUDBURY, Ont. - Vale says workers have begun returning to its five Sudbury-area mines after a temporary shutdown following the death of a miner.

The company says the return to work will continue in the coming days.

Operations were temporarily suspended after Stephen Perry, 47, died in a workplace accident Jan. 29 at the Coleman Mine in Levack.

The circumstances of how he died are under investigation but Vale says it happened in the main ore body at the 1,300-metre level.

Vale says in a statement that the temporary suspension of operations is not expected to have an impact on production.

The company says production will resume once “outstanding safety items” are addressed.
