Santa Clara, Calif. – A recent analysis from Frost & Sullivan, The Global Wind Power Market, Forecast to 2025, finds that the global wind market has witnessed tremendous growth, with an addition of more than half of the world's wind power capacity over the past five years. The global wind market, onshore and offshore, is driven by various governments' initiatives to improve energy security and, in particular, reduce coal consumption due to growing concerns about climate change and air pollution. By the end of 2016, more than 80 countries had installed wind farms and about 26 countries, representing every region, had more than 1 gigawatt (GW) in operation.
Using energy more efficiently offers economic benefits because saving fuels and energy is a lot cheaper than buying them. A strategic approach to energy management allows a plant or organization to gain a better understanding of energy use and implement technologies, processes and practices that will decrease costs, improve profitability and reduce carbon emissions and wastes.
Maintenance of your electrical system during a shutdown, turnaround or outage is crucial for much of your electrical equipment, especially your circuit breakers. This is the only time to do fault finding and determine their operating characteristics. It is important for both a reliable and safe system to properly plan and schedule these outages so that they become an important part of your shutdown scope.
Bird poop was the likely cause of a December shutdown at a nuclear power plant outside New York City, according to the operator.
Nuclear energy outperforms wind and natural gas in slowing the advance of climate change, the Canadian Nuclear Association said today.
GE has launched a new 16.5 megawatt (MW) gas turbine (NovaLT16) for mechanical drive and power generation applications in the oil and gas industry. Developed by GE Oil & Gas to meet the industry’s evolving challenges, NovaLT16 combines the best technology from industry-proven GE turbines and benefits from the industry insights of TransCanada Corporation, a major North American energy infrastructure company.
The Ontario Power Authority (OPA) is now accepting applications from a wider range of Ontario industries for incentives to invest in new facilities or expand existing ones under Stream 3 of the Industrial Electricity Incentive (IEI) program.
July 31, 2014 - Maximizing battery life can be a decisive factor to many mission-critical systems where longevity of the equipment can affect the outcome. For example, in battery operated, remotely piloted military vehicles, the ability to last 13 minutes instead of 10, can make a significant difference. Increasing the life of any battery-operated system has become a key initiative for equipment manufacturers.
