Peoria, IL – Caterpillar Inc. today announced the release of the new Cat CG132B, the first natural gas generator set in its class engineered to meet an electrical efficiency of 43.5 per cent. Rated for continuous power at 400, 600 and 800 kW for both 50 and 60 Hz, this generator set is now available for public utility, agricultural biogas, landfill, sewage plant, and mining applications, along with industrial and/or commercial facilities.
Caterpillar recently completed assembly of the 5,000th Cat 793 Mining Truck. Caterpillar data show that the milestone production figure far exceeds the manufacture of any other brand of 250-ton (227-tonne) size class truck. In production since 1991, truck number 5,000 represents the fifth generation of the 793.

Caterpillar is developing autonomous mining truck technology for an expanded range of models, including other brands. At a recent Cat MineStar Command for hauling demonstration at the company’s facility in Arizona, Caterpillar announced a project to adapt hardware and software for retrofitting the Komatsu 930E mining truck with Cat autonomous technology. This interoperability initiative is driven by mining companies’ goal of reducing mining costs using their existing fleets.
